Abstract

Hydroxylammonium tetrafluoridooxidovanadate(V) has been prepared by reaction of (NH3OH)Cl and VOF3 in anhydrous HF solvent and characterised in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Colourless (NH3OH)[VOF4] crystallises in the monoclinic P21/n space group with a = 7.2349(2) Å, b = 5.0351(2) Å, c = 12.8322(4) Å, b = 94.843(3)°, V = 465.79(3) Å3 and Z = 4 at 150 K. The crystal structure of the title compound is comprised of polymeric chain anions, [VOF4]nn, interconnected by hydrogen bonds with hydroxylammonium cations, (NH3OH)+.
